Why Japan

A structured ladder for skilled workers and entrepreneurs.

Japan has one of the world's most deliberate immigration systems. It is not easy, but every requirement is documented and every step is predictable. For the prepared, it rewards consistency.

  • World-class employment market

Japan's economy consistently ranks among the top three globally. Engineering, IT, finance, and manufacturing firms actively recruit international talent, and the government has formalized shortage-sector fast tracks.

  • Highly Skilled Professional fast-track PR

The points-based Highly Skilled Professional (HSP) visa grants permanent residency in as little as one year for candidates scoring 80+ points, the fastest PR route in any major developed country.

  • Competitive salaries and low cost of daily life

Professional salaries in Tokyo are competitive for the Asia-Pacific region, and everyday costs outside rent are modest. The yen exchange rate further benefits those earning in Japan and sending remittances.

  • Stable residence and long-term PR

Residence status in Japan is well-defined: work visa holders on the standard track qualify for permanent residency after ten years, or five with an HSP designation. No ambiguity on timelines.

  • Gateway to Asia-Pacific

Japan's geographic position and trade relationships give residents access to one of the most connected business ecosystems in the world, with short flights to Seoul, Singapore, Shanghai, and beyond.

Visa routes

Two routes, each with a defined COE checklist.

Every Japanese work visa starts with a Certificate of Eligibility issued by Japanese Immigration and obtained by your sponsor in Japan. We coordinate the sponsor relationship and build the file from Algiers.

  • Entrepreneur · Business Manager Visa

    Business Manager Visa

For founders and company managers establishing or operating a business in Japan. Requires a real office address, a credible business plan, and at least two full-time employees or JPY 5 million capital. Renewable, and eligible for HSP re-designation after sufficient points.

    • Registered office address in Japan (commercial lease or shared-office contract)
    • Business plan with financial projections reviewed by Japanese Immigration
    • JPY 5 million (around USD 35,000) minimum capital or two full-time employees
    • Certificate of Eligibility (COE) obtained by the Japanese entity before the Algiers consulate issues the visa
  • Employment · Engineer / Specialist in Humanities

Highly Skilled / Engineer - Specialist in Humanities Work Visa

The primary skilled-employment visa for engineers, IT professionals, researchers, and humanities specialists. Links directly to the Highly Skilled Professional points system, which unlocks PR in 1, 3, or 5 years depending on your score. Algerian graduates require degree recognition by their Japanese employer during the COE process.

    • Job offer or contract from a Japanese employer who sponsors the COE at the regional Immigration Bureau
    • University degree or 10+ years of relevant professional experience (Algerian diplomas accepted if the employer confirms relevance)
    • Highly Skilled Professional points audit: age, income, academic background, Japanese language level, and employer designation all scored
    • Scoring 70+ points grants HSP status; 80+ points accelerates PR eligibility to one year
    • Path to permanent residency: 10 years standard, 5 years with HSP designation, 3 years at 70+ points, or 1 year at 80+ points

How it works

Five steps, from Algiers to your Residence Card in Japan.

Japan's process is sponsor-first: nothing moves until the employer or business entity in Japan triggers the COE. We help you find that anchor, then manage everything from both sides.

  1. 01

    Strategy and points audit

We review your academic background, work history, and current language levels against the HSP points table to identify your score and the fastest viable route.

  2. 02

    Sponsor matching or entity setup

For employment: we connect you with Japan-based employers open to Algerian professionals. For the Business Manager route: we advise on company registration, capital requirements, and office address solutions.

  3. 03

    COE application in Japan

Your sponsor submits the Certificate of Eligibility application to the regional Immigration Bureau in Japan. This is the critical gate: the COE must be approved before the consulate in Algiers can issue the visa.

  4. 04

Visa application at the Japanese Embassy in Algiers

Once the COE is issued, you apply at the Embassy of Japan in Algiers with the original COE, passport, application form, and supporting documents. Processing typically takes five to ten business days.

  5. 05

    Arrival, Residence Card, and registration

On entry you receive a landing endorsement; your Residence Card is issued at the airport (for major airports) or mailed after municipal registration. Register at the local ward office within 14 days of arrival.
